Caddis are common in many Alaska streams, and light hatches may occur throughout the year in open waters. Although not frequent, large hatches sometimes occur; during these events the notoriously non-selective graylings may become quite finicky. To be successful at these times, the proper size and color of caddis are required. Even when hatches are light or non-existent, the Elk Wing Caddis can be very good for rainbows and grayling. Popular color variations include olive, gray, tan, brown, and light orange.
