GLO-BUG
Hook: Tiemco 2457, sizes 2-10
Thread: Orange
Body: Two to four strands of flame orange Glo-Bug yarn, plus one strand of champagne Glo-Bug yarn, trimmed to egg shape
Glo-Bugs were developed and marketed by the Bug Shop in Anderson, California, and are unquestionably among the most deadly patterns ever used for rainbow trout, steelhead, and salmon in Alaska. This pattern is usually fished dead drift as it bounces along the bottom. The standard Glo-Bug is available in over 20 color variations, any of which may be effective at particular time or place. When wet, the yarn takes on a translucent appearance and "feel" which greatly increases its attractiveness to fish, but at the same time frequently results in fish hooked deep in the throat or gills. Many fly fishers have observed higher mortalities of released fish caught with Glo-Bug than with other patterns.
